Organic Week starts Sunday
Organic Week starts Sunday. Starts this Sunday and runs until June 5 to Week 7 Organic Food. The event seeks to give visibility to food produced without pesticides and has actions throughout the country. The theme of this year is "Organic Products - easier to identify," focusing on the dissemination seal Organic Product Brazil, which helps consumers identify those products and the Registration Statement of the Family Farmer. The organization is made by Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Map) with partner institutions such as the Sebrae.
"The goal of the week is awareness consumers about the benefits and qualities of organic food for health. Information and guidelines for the identification of products fairs, markets and supermarkets will also be provided to consumers"Said Virginia Lira, tax farming and agroecology team member on the map, the area responsible for promoting the event.
To date, there are 9,700 registered organic producers in the ministry. The expectation of the map is that this total should reach 15 000 producers later this year.
Organic Product Seal Brazil, launched by the ministry in January 2010 to identify the authenticity these products is to buy direct from farmers or others (in supermarkets and markets) is a guarantee to consumers. "In free markets organic farmers must expose their stalls in the Declaration Joined Map to facilitate the identification of its products by customers," says Virginia.
